CSS Validation For Style Sheets

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets is commonly used now by most web designers. To ensure that the sheets are error free, you should validate them using a CSS validator. Validation help designers correct the errors, thus, making the website more search engine friendly.

CSS validation ensures that your style sheets are syntax error free. There are several CSS validators available online – some are free and downloadable. These validators make checking for errors a whole lot easier. There are many benefits in performing a CSS validation; however, some web designers are not doing it.

Ignoring CSS Validation

Why do some web designers ignore the idea of validation the style sheets? Those who are against CSS validation support their decision with these reasons:

• Time Issues




Who doesn’t want to have error free pages? Of course that is something that most web designers want to achieve. This can be done through validation. However, there are some hindrances in achieving that and one of them is time constraint. Some web designers can’t find extra time to validate especially when they have thousands of existing pages. They better work on something more productive rather than spend their time validating.

• There is no guarantee that the page will appear how you want them to.




Some web designers contest that even if you perform validation in your CSS pages, there is no guarantee that the page will work the way you want it to. According to some web designers, the focus of web design shouldn’t all be in codes, it should be how to make your pages viewable and navigable.

• Source Codes are not viewed by online users.




For some web designers who aren’t validating their style sheets, codes aren’t so crucial. The argument is that an average online users will not look into the codes of the web pages as long as they can view the page right. They won’t go as far as looking for code errors on the pages of a website.

These reasons have some points in them, yet nothing beats a syntax free page. Although the page may still be viewable, it pays to have correct codes at all times. CSS validation ensures that pages are correctly coded and search engine friendly. There’s nothing wrong with ignoring CSS validation as long as you are sure you have designed the pages correctly. Still, what matters is how the online users and the search engines view your pages.
