Google Is Threatened By Smaller Search EnginesHome > Resources > General Resources > Search EnginesThere are several search engines today. But among them all, the major players are Google, Yahoo and MSN. No doubt, the largest percentage of online users utilise any of these three major search engines. Among the three, the most popular and mostly used is Google. The term “Google” has become synonymous with search. Google’s popularity can be well credited to the search engines’ quality services and features. Google has made all efforts in making its services top class. It has also answered most of the online users’ demands. When webmasters need to advertise, Google came out with Google AdWords. When we wanted extra income online, Google introduced Google AdSense. Google continues to meet the ever changing demands of the evolving online industry. It does this to maintain its position on the top of the internet competition. It enjoys taking the lead. Surely it is successful in achieving this since most online users really use Google in their searches. For years, Google is at the top of its game. Online Users Prefer Specific Search ResultsOnline users’ preference in the search results changes. As time goes by, preferences evolve. Now online users are more particular with the search results that they get. Now, more than ever, they become more into specific results. When you search for “web marketing services”, wouldn’t it be great if you receive results that specifically talks about web marketing services? This is where small and simple search engines come into scene. A lot of specific search engines are entering the internet search scene. These are what we call the vertical search engines. These search engines offer the most specific result. This is their advantage over major search engines like Google. Google search results are broad and general while vertical search results are specific. Although some may already be content with what Google offers in its search results, some are simply into vertical search results. This kind of search result also offers local results. This is something important for some online users. Vertical search results eliminate the generality of the listing. Is Google Off To Vertical Search Results? This may seem to be a small issue but nonetheless, it is a threat to Google and other leading search engines. Now Google is already making specialized searches and queries. It seems that Google is moving forward towards vertical search results. Although we can’t see it yet, for sure Google is doing something to maintain its top position and online supremacy. We all know Google as the father of innovation so it wouldn’t be impossible if it embrace vertical search results as well. Still it is a good thing to know that smaller search engines are already building their own names. Google is still the mostly used search engine today. Need to market your website in Google?
