Internet Marketing Advice

There is no doubt that Google is the most popular search engine today. A large percentage of online users perform searches using Google. This is the reason why all websites want to be on the top of the Google search results. They all want to get as much traffic as possible. They believe Google has the power to drive countless traffic to their website – which is actually true.

All website owners understand the importance of getting to the top of Google search results. It is considered a great success to be on the top. It means the Google users will see the website first and will choose to click it over the other millions of websites on the list. But do all these website owners aiming to hit the Google top jackpot know how Google performs the search process and how Google comes up with its search results?

The Google Search Process

Knowing the Google search process will help website owners better understand the search engine. So how does Google actually gathers the data that it presents in its search results? How does it process a search query? And how does it come up with its search results?

Google uses a special software called Googlebot. The Googlebot is the one responsible in gathering information from the entire web. It visits all websites, including all its web pages. It gets all information it can get from all the web pages that it visits. The web pages that are fetched by Googlebot are forwarded to the store server. Each of the web page is assigned an ID number, also called the doc ID.

When an online user enters a particular search query in Google, the web server forward the query to the index server. The index server has all the information by topic. The information are still stored and must be retrieved so the index server forwards the query to the doc server. The doc server is responsible in retrieving the documents that are relevant to the search query made. The doc server also generates snippets that describe the listing.

The information and snippets retrieved by the doc server are arranged in order of relevance and presented to the online user making the search query. Google performs all these in less than a minute. This is how the search results are processed. For website owners, it is important that your website has relevant content. Otherwise, there is nothing to visit and index in your website.

Google bases its search results from the information gathered by the Googlebot. Need to add relevant content for your website? Please see our Website Content Service or you can apply for our Free Website Analysis. For more information, please contact our Website Content Writers.
