Google Spam FiltersGoogle considers the age of a website as part of its measure of importance. It believes that a low quality website won’t last for long. To help it gauge whether a website is quality or not, it uses a filter called the Google Sandbox. Google also uses a related filter called the Trust Rank. The trust rank of a website depends on its age, the quality of inbound links and the content. Have you heard about the -30 filter? As a penalty to spammy websites, Google drops its rankings by 30 spots, thus, the term -30. The websites affected by this filter are those that use invisible text, doorway pages, JavaScript redirects and other search engine optimisation techniques that aim to spam Google and the other search engines. For those websites who participate in link farms, Google has a filter for them. Google tries to identify link farm participating websites and when detected, the website’s ranking can be affected negatively. Google also filters broken links and suspicious links. Sure it is important to get links pointing to your website but just be sure that you are getting those quality incoming links without doing any SEO spamming techniques.
