Narcissism or egotism can be true to websites. There are many websites today that talk all about themselves, how good their services are, how experienced their staff are, and how established they websites are. These websites seem to be more interested about their own company rather than their customers.

Websites like this is quite annoying and online users won’t even think twice to leave the website. Online users are in the look out for companies and websites that would solve their problems rather than websites that simply brag about who they are. This is the common problem with narcissistic website – not to mention this is also their major downfall.

Customer Focused Website

Websites must be customer focused to ensure that online users will stay on it. Online users are searching for websites that could answer their needs. Websites that cater to the needs of online users are said to be customer focused. How will you make your website customer focused? Here are some suggestions:

  • Website must provide information that are customer oriented. The information must benefit the online users and potential customers.

  • If it is possible, provide testimonial from third party or previously satisfied customers. This will strengthen the credibility of your website in the eyes of your potential customers.

  • Website must require a response from customers. Humans are prone to curiosity and response. Once they encounter something that needs response, it’s an instinct for them to respond. The same is true to websites.

Is Your Website Self Absorbed or Client-Focused?

It is important that you evaluate your website in terms of its focus. The more you get to know your website, the more you will be able to optimise it not only for the search engines but for your customers as well.

The secret to know whether your website is narcissist or client oriented is to put on the shoes of your customers or online users. Look at your website. Does it answer your need as a customer? Does it address your concerns or answer our questions? Does the product and services copy provide client oriented benefits?

Does your website’s copy answer your questions as a customer? Has your interest aroused with the information provided? If your answers are mostly positive, congratulations, your website is client or customer focused. If your answers are mostly negative, think again. You need to further optimise your website, this time focus it to your potential customer. After all, you create your website for your customers and not for ego gratification right?
