Search Engines Strategies in Web MarketingHome > Resources > General Resources > Search Engine MarketingAiming for more traffic to your website? The question that every website administrator has is this: How can I have more visitors to my website? Sure this is something to be concerned of, since visitors are your potential customers. There are countless ways to improve and promote your website on the internet, in general and on the search engines, in particular. Some of these techniques may already be too familiar for you; however, these are still good as reminders. Here are some of the search engine strategies, which others may have disregarded, in website promotion and advertisement:
This may be a traditional strategy but it will still contribute to your website’s traffic. Whenever possible include your URL on printed materials like cards, literature and brochures. Reminder: Make sure you print a correct URL address; otherwise, it will be useless. Commonly recommended way is to leave the http:// and include only the www.websitename.com. If you feel you can write articles with good contents, do so. And submit them to editors as a free informational content for their websites. This strategy will increase your website’s visibility in such a way that your link will be on those articles you have submitted. The more articles you submit to different editors, the more inbound link you have. Include a short title for each of your pages. Do not include articles like “the”, “or”, “a” , etc. Remember that in creating your title, use words that browsers are most likely to look for. The title will speak about the entire page of your site, so make it descriptive. There are some navigation menus that are not search engine friendly. JavaScript and Flash Navigation menus are some of those that can’t be read by search engines. They may add appeal to your website but basically with these, search engines may not find it easy to navigate the rest of your site. A site map has a link to all the pages in your website. This will be of great help for your site to be fully indexed. Develop particular pages of your site and focus them on specific keywords of key phrase. It is a fact that web administrators cannot actually optimize all pages on the website, but it helps to optimize several pages and improve their rank. It is important to submit your URL to major search engines and regional search engines. Some major search engines include Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista and AOL. Or if you have already submitted your site and have made some changes, you can either re-submit or wait for search engine spider to index it. These may be simple strategies but they can make a big difference in your website’s ranking and position. After all, your website needs a good traffic, high visibility and popularity to survive the competitive world of the internet. There are still more search engine strategies to help your website.
