RSS Feed makes it easy for websites to provide updated information to its subscribers and target market. It lets you reach your subscribers in an instant. What you need to syndicate are updated and quality content – something that will interest your subscribers. RSS Feed has many benefits. So how do you create an RSS feed on your website?

Here is a step by step guide in creating an RSS Feed:

Step 1 – The RSS File

Create an RSS file. Include the title and description plus the link URL. Develop your RSS Script using a text editor like Notepad.

Step 2 – The RSS Script

On the RSS Script, include information that tells about your website or the content page. Give also data about the content you are syndicating. You can use the following codes:

< ?xml version="1.0"? >
< rss version="2.0" >
< channel >
< title >Here Goes The Title < /title >
< link > Link URL < /link >
< description>Here goes the description< /description >
< language>en-us< /language >
< copyright>Company Name < /copyright >

< item >
< title>Title of The Content < /title >
< link>URL Link for the content < /link >
< description > Content Description < /description >
< /item >
< /channel >
< /rss >

Remember that when you save this file, you should use .xml extension but still save the document as text. After saving the text document, you need to upload the .xml file on the web server.

Step 3 – Off To The Web Server

In saving the RSS file on the web server, place it on the homepage directory or the directory of the content page that you wish to syndicate. The next thing to do is validation. By validation, you check whether the feed is already active and ready to be syndicated.

Step 4- RSS Feed On The Website

Place your RSS code on your website. Place an RSS button linking to the feed you have just uploaded. Once clicked, the button should bring the online users to the RSS feed. Test this to ensure that your visitors are taken to the page you want them to visit.

Creating an RSS feed is easy. If you have a quality content that you want to share with your site visitors, why not use an RSS feed? It is the easiest way to give your subscribers new information. Every time the feed is updated, the subscribers will receive the updated content.

This way, you will always reach them. Reaching them is the first step in conversion. Once the target market is within reach, you will be able to perform marketing campaigns on them and eventually convert them into customers.
