Internet Marketing Advice

Pay per click advertising promises higher traffic, conversion and sales. Websites advertising through PPC are expected to get positive results from their PPC endeavours. While there are PPC advertisers who are already enjoying the rewards of their PPC efforts, there are still those who are struggling to get good return on investment.

Some PPC advertisers complain about losing a great deal of money in their PPC campaigns. What is the cause of this problem? Why do some advertisers lose money instead of earning? One of the common mistakes among PPC advertisers is disregarding testing. Why is it important to test the campaign and what part of the campaign should you test?

The Importance Of PPC Testing

It is important that PPC advertisers spend some time testing the campaign. Testing will deliver valuable results for the advertisers. What should be tested in a PPC campaign? There are actually three elements that need to be tested: Keywords, Bids, and Ads.

  • Testing The Keywords

  • Keywords play a vital part in the success of any PPC campaign. You might think you have built a list of all relevant keywords for your campaign but you will never actually know how effective your keywords are unless you have tried them. What PPC advertisers need to do is test the keywords’ effectiveness. If the test results show that some keywords are not performing well, then the advertiser can decide to remove or replace them with more relevant keywords.

  • Testing The Bids

  • To know whether you are paying too low or too high for a particular bid, you have to perform bid testing. Look at how your ads are doing with the current bid that you are paying. Try to increase or decrease the bid and observe the result. After testing, you can decide as to how much the ideal bid should be.

  • Testing The Ads

  • Make at least two or more ads for each ad group or campaign. Monitor the performances of the ads. Identify which ads are often clicked and which merely receives impressions yet no click. Through ads testing, you will be able to identify which ads need to be retained and which needs to be improved or removed.

If you are serious about getting maximum benefits from pay per click advertising, always conduct tests. Test the keywords, bids and the ads. Test results will give you valuable data that will help you improve your PPC campaign.
