Internet Marketing Advice

A large percentage of online users utilize the search engines in finding information, looking for a place to buy and searching for services. This is a fact that you should take into consideration in planning web marketing strategies that aim to help your website build a successful online presence.

To be able to reach a wider range of internet users, you need to consider search engine marketing. The search engines will give your website targeted traffic. It can send as much traffic as you expect to. The key is to make your website appear relevant and impressive on the eyes of the search engines.

The Search Engine Styles

But before you even start your search engine marketing campaign, it is crucial that you get to know the search engines first. Doing so will give you ideas as how to better get the attention of the search engines. The search engines adapt two styles (these are the basic styles and used by major search engines).

One style is portal wherein it offers other services aside from the search box. The other services or features are used to hook the online users to use the search engine regularly. Some of these features include directory, news, and mail. One perfect example would be Yahoo.

The other style of the search engine is the search-only style. Search engines using this style simply have a search box on the website. There are no additional features. The perfect example of this style is Google.

Marketing Website On The Search Engines

Whatever styles the search engines use, just the same they base their search results on their extensive data base. Websites must be included in the database to appear on the search results. Some databases are manually edited while others are automated. Some search engines ask for a payment for inclusion (the so-called paid inclusion) while others offer it for free. Either way, it is important that a website is included in a search engine’s database to start appearing in its search results.

The search engines have been introduced on the internet in the early 90’s as an answer to the demand of immediate results to online users’ query. Today, the search engines dominate the internet. Most online users pass through a search engine first before reaching the website they are looking for.

The search engines may have different styles, yet, just the same, they can both deliver traffic to your website. In planning your marketing campaign, don’t just settle on one style. As much as possible, consider marketing your website on the differently styled search engines.

The search engines have two basic styles: portal and search only. Need to market your website on all search engines irregardless of style? Please see our Search Engine Marketing Services now or you can apply for our Free SEM Analysis.
