You might have not put so much value on it, but spaces can help you achieve an effective and successful web design. The spaces should expand or contract to fit the browser window. One tip in fitting your space to a browser window is to use a different background color. When you want to make a particular page appear to be fitted on the window, center that page on the browser screen and apply a different background color. This way, your spaces will be proportioned. It will not compromise the look of the web page. When you open the page on a browser that has a smaller screen, the page seems to fit but the background is almost invisible. However, when you view that page on a browser with larger screen, the background tends to appear but just the same the page seems to fit.

The text width should fall between the range of 7 – 11 words. The text width refers to the number of words displayed in one line. Online users have shorter attention span and having them read more than the standard text width range is like sending them away from your website. And if you can, avoid centering your texts. It would be hard to read.
