There are hundreds of web marketing articles and resources that tell about almost the same thing about web marketing – from every trick possible to gain higher ranking and visibility. Most webmasters aim for the usual strategies since they are already trusted. But unusual strategies can work well too!

It may sound skeptical but true. There are some strategies that appear unusual to some but effective to others. There are even times when these unusual strategies are what really attract visitors to your website. They are unusual, that is why they are interesting! Here are some of the strategies that appear unusual to some but powerful to those who have tried them:

  • Have you tried combining capital letters with lower case letters? Sounds unusual but it can be attractive. You can try using all capital letters in every other word or alternate capital letters and lower case letters.

  • Add extra white space in your subject line – but make it creative! You can also use this technique in between your words and letters.

  • Starting your subject line with the word STOP is always effective. This is helpful since it is part of human nature to stop when told to stop so expect the “stop strategy” to work!

  • Use text symbols in the subject line – but only when it is applicable. If possible, enclose the subject line with text symbols. This will make your subject line more attractive and visible.

  • Avoid using all caps in your subject line. It does not catch the online users’ attention. Aside from the fact that it is not easy to read, it doesn’t also project professionalism. And one more thing “all caps” connotes shouting!

  • Try the question strategy. Ask your site visitors something in your subject line. It creates response from them, at the same time, arouses their curiosity.

  • Use the free strategy. Anyone will be interested into something that is for free. Your offer should have something free that comes with it – say information, articles and resources.

  • Avoid the “too good to be true” claims. Don’t think we’re still living in the old times. Anyone can rightly judge now whether or not your claim is believable or not!

  • Test…Test…Test. Test your subject lines and see which one generates more traffic and stick to that one!

  • Who said smileys are for offline transactions only? Make your customers and target market smile by adding a smiley on your subject line.

These may seem unusual but mind you, these strategies can make a big difference in your web marketing endeavor. Unusual as they may seem, they can bring success to your website or online business!
