Among the many web marketing strategies, one of the most popular is online advertising. It has attracted many online advertisers because of its many benefits. It can drive a high amount of traffic to a website easily. To be able to get maximum benefits from online advertising, online advertisers need to get familiar with the different advertising models.

Online Advertising Models

One online advertising model works different from the others. They also require different online advertising strategies to use. So whatever online advertising model you are using, you have to be well informed about it. What are the online advertising models? How do they differ from each other? Here are the most popular models and a brief introduction about each:

  • Pay Per Click

  • This is the most popular online advertising model. The three major search engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN offer this type of advertising service. With Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising, the advertiser pays only every time their ads are legitimately clicked by an online user.

  • Cost Per Impression

  • With this online advertising model, the advertiser pays a specific amount for a particular number of impressions. Impression refers to the visibility of the ads. If a particular cost per impression program rates per 1000 impressions, it means that the online advertiser pays for every 1000 times the ads became visible even if they aren’t clicked.

  • Contextual Advertising

  • With this model, the advertisers place ads on a third party site. The clicks will come from selected websites and web pages where the ads are displayed. The websites place these sponsored ads or links on a visible portion of their web pages.

  • Pay Per Call

  • Pay Per Call allows online advertisers to pay only if a desired action from the clicker is achieved. For this case, the desired action is call. When someone clicks on the ad and calls the advertiser, the advertiser will be charged. Calling the advertiser is considered as the first step in conversion. Therefore, this type of model helps improve conversion rate.

These online advertising models all aim to help online advertisers in promoting their websites the easy and effective way. Before deciding what model to use, you must first evaluate the needs of your website. It is important that you use the model that best suits your website’s needs to ensure a successful online advertising campaign.
