What will you do when you suddenly find out your website has dropped and your site traffic is nowhere to be found? This can be a total nightmare for those make money through online business. Losing the site traffic can be a total wreck!

What Causes a Site to Drop Down in SERPs?

What causes a site to drop in the search engine result pages? Perhaps you have found several threads and discussions about this topic. But let me ask you one question: were you enlightened or confused? There are those who claim that Google may have lost some data and that causes the sites to drop. But what are the real reasons behind lost traffic and dropped sites?

  • Google Update

  • One factor that causes a site to drop is the Google dance. You will be able to identify if your site has dropped after the Google update. During the Google update process, there will be no stability in ranks and rank positions. This is the reason why you cannot say your site has dropped during the Google dance.

  • Penalty

  • Your site might have been penalized. What triggers a penalty from the search engines? If a site has been tricking the search engines through search engine cloaking, hidden texts, doorway pages, link farms and stuffs like these, the search engines can actually penalize that site.

If you can’t find your site in the search engines, then it must have been penalized. If you are using Google, try searching for your site using site:yourdomainname.com. If Google has not found any match for your site, then your site must have been penalized.

  • Lack of Web Marketing Tactics

  • One reason why a site can drop in SERPs is the lack of web marketing tactics. Examine you site’s competitors who do well on the ranking. Compare those sites with your own site. What do these sites have that your site is missing? Is it quality links? Or relevant web content? Or keyword enriched meta tags?

Evaluate your findings and look for great web marketing techniques that will give your site the same benefits as your competitors. Get your site noticed by adding relevant and unique content. In doing so, you are giving your site the higher chance of getting a good number of organic and quality links.

Do not panic once your site has dropped in the search engine result pages or if your traffic is nowhere to be found. Sit back and identify what caused your site to drop down. Then find ways to make your site appear better to gain back its ranking and traffic. Put a little investment on your web marketing techniques and soon you’ll not only gain back your ranking…you’ll get even higher position and increased site traffic!

Identify what caused your site to drop down in SERPs and get back an even higher traffic and ranking. Increase your site’s rank and traffic. Please see our Web Marketing Services or apply for a Free Website Analysis.
