Home > Resources > SEO Resources > Link Popularity
Better Google Rankings

When marketed correctly, a website can generate as much traffic and sales as it wants. The key to make a website successful online is proper web marketing. One important aspect of web marketing is link building. Websites need to have quality incoming links to be able to generate more targeted traffic and at the same time rank high on the search engines. Incoming links refer to those referrals made by other websites.

The search engines are particular with the quality of the links that points to a website. Because a lot of web marketers are trying to manipulate the search results, the search engines became strict in dealing with links. They do not just count the number of links that point to a website, but they look at the quality of the links as well. What do the search engines consider as quality incoming links?

Quality Links For The Search Engines

The search engines are after the quality and not the quantity of the links. A quality link is one that comes from a high ranking and relevant website. The website giving the link must be related to the website receiving it. So if for instance your website is about “Web marketing”, then your incoming links should be from web marketing websites and directories.

If you think about it, the most relevant websites to give you quality incoming link are your competitors. Why? Because your competitors offer exactly the same products and services that you offer. They are the most ideal websites to give you a link. However, they are also the hardest to convince. Of course, competition is competition no matter what. How will they give you an incoming link then?

When you operate a business in a particular location, you can ask for incoming link from the same businesses on other locations. They are your competitors but not directly,. You may offer the same products and services but you have a different target location. This wouldn’t be as hard as getting a link from your direct competitors.

Another option is to provide your competitors with valuable information or tool in exchange of links. The Google Gadget can be used to create tools that can be used by your competitors. The tool will have a backlink to your website. This is a good way of getting quality incoming links from your competitors. Incoming links from your competitors are esteemed by the search engines for two things: 1) they are very relevant and 2) they are hard to get.

Build quality incoming links from your competitors for more targeted traffic and higher search engine ranking. Need to build your website’s links?
